Wednesday News

We had a wonderful day!

More and more we're learning what our daily routine looks like and how we transition to and from activities/lessons.

Our day started with morning work (focusing on fine motor skills and letter sounds). We then transitioned to Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. We began by reading the book and talking about sounds. Then, the kiddos were dismissed to their seats to make their own Chicka Chicka Boom Boom tree. Finally, we made our very own class book using the pattern and rhyme from Chicka Chicka.

We were able to go outside with our kinder friends for first recess. It's still pretty warm and the kiddos loved it!

After recess, our APEX friend (Groovy Gabe) came and talked to us about appreciating our friends, family, life, and world. If you haven't yet, please log in to https://myapexevent.com/home and register your child (using the code from their lanyard (that was sent home yesterday). After logging in, please also select your child's t-shirt size (every child gets a shirt for the fun run)!

After saying goodbye to Groovy Gabe, we did our calendar/morning message time, We also interviewed our Happy Camper and made her a Happy Camper name book.

Our afternoon was filled with lunch, recess, library, Good Choice/Bad Choice, snack, show & share, quiet time, afternoon recess, free choice, and music.

If you haven't yet, please visit our front office to fill out the Washington State Patrol Form. It takes two weeks to be cleared to work in the classroom &/or chaperone field trips. We will start volunteers at the beginning of October. You do have to fill out a new one each year.

Important Information:
1. Please make sure your child has the appropriate transportation tag on their backpack. Let me know if you need a new one or if you have any questions about them.

2. Please complete and return the First Day of Kindergarten question page (that you picked up on the first day of school). If you need another, please let me know and I'll send one home.

3. If your child is having cold lunch and has any nut products in their lunch, please put a note on the outside of their lunch box so we can help direct them to the appropriate table. We know this is an extra step, but it is SO important to help keep all kids safe. Please also tell your child if they have nuts and if they're having cold or hot lunch.

4. McTeacher Night is September 18th at McDonalds at the Y. Kinder teachers will be working from 4-5pm. Please join us at this fun event!

5. APEX Fun Run - This is a once a year fundraiser that will take place on September 19th  at around 9:30am. If you can help volunteer, please let me know! This is an incredible event that raises all our PTO funds for the entire year.

6. We have 5th grade buddies this year and will do many amazing projects together. As we prepare for our first project, we are collecting toilet paper tubes. If you have any and can send them in over the next few weeks, we would greatly appreciate it!
