We had a great day!
We started with our morning routine of pledge, attendance, lunch count, and morning work. We then prepared for our first fire drill. When the alarm sounded, we quickly and quietly exited the building and waited for the all clear to head back in. Once we were back in the building, the alarm went off again (whoops). The kiddos were unfazed and again did the fire drill. Please high-five your kiddos and let them know how proud I am of them!
We went outside for first recess and then welcomed Groovy Gabe from APEX back for another lesson. Please see the attachment to today's email with all the information about our lesson and pledges.
After Groovy Gabe left, we did our morning message and calendar time. We learned the "Days of the Week" song and started talking about place value. We then interviewed our Happy Camper and made them a name book.
Our afternoon was filled with lunch, recess, quiet time, music, 5th grade buddies, afternoon recess, snack, show & share, and free choice.
Important Information:
1. Please make sure your child has the appropriate transportation tag on their backpack. Let me know if you need a new one or if you have any questions about them.
2. Please complete and return the First Day of Kindergarten question page (that you picked up on the first day of school). If you need another, please let me know and I'll send one home.
3. If your child is having cold lunch and has any nut products in their lunch, please put a note on the outside of their lunch box so we can help direct them to the appropriate table. We know this is an extra step, but it is SO important to help keep all kids safe. Please also tell your child if they have nuts and if they're having cold or hot lunch.
4. McTeacher Night is September 18th at McDonalds at the Y. Kinder teachers will be working from 4-5pm. Please join us at this fun event!
5. APEX Fun Run - This is a once a year fundraiser that will take place on September 19th at around 9:30am. If you can help volunteer, please let me know! This is an incredible event that raises all our PTO funds for the entire year.
6. We have 5th grade buddies this year and will do many amazing projects together. As we prepare for our first project, we are collecting toilet paper tubes. If you have any and can send them in over the next few weeks, we would greatly appreciate it!
