Monday News

We had an awesome day!

Our day started with our morning routine - learning how to do the pledge, hawk I pledge, attendance, and lunch count. We then learned all about rotations - how to rotate, what we do when we hear the timer, and how we work together. During the rotations, kinders did legos, handwriting, cutting, and building.

Unfortunately, we weren't able to go outside for first recess; however, we did still have it indoors.

After recess, we read Pete the Cat (Rocking in my School Shoes). After reading it, we followed Pete's clues and toured the school. We never did find Pete, but he did leave us a fun coloring page and cute Pete the Cat stuffed animal.

The last part of our morning we learned all about using our library - how to check out books, how to use the books, and how to return them. We also talked about the three ways to read a book (Read the Words, Read the Pictures, or Retell the Story).

Our afternoon was filled with lunch, recess (half outside and half inside), library, our Happy Camper interview, snack, show & share, quiet time, afternoon recess (outside), free choice, and the APEX Fun Run Assembly.

*Also, we noticed that the number flashcards we sent home are missing a page. I've recopied them and will send the complete set of flashcards home tomorrow. Sorry about that!

Important Information:
1. Please make sure your child has the appropriate transportation tag on their backpack. Let me know if you need a new one or if you have any questions about them.

2. We have PE tomorrow. Please send kinders in tennis-shoes.

3. Please complete and return the First Day of Kindergarten question page (that you picked up on the first day of school). If you need another, please let me know and I'll send one home.

4. If your child is having cold lunch and has any nut products in their lunch, please put a note on the outside of their lunch box so we can help direct them to the appropriate table. We know this is an extra step, but it is SO important to help keep all kids safe. Please also tell your child if they have nuts and if they're having cold or hot lunch.

5. McTeacher Night is September 18th at McDonalds at the Y. Kinder teachers will be working from 4-5pm. Please join us at this fun event!

6. APEX Fun Run - This is a once a year fundraiser that will take place on September 19th  at around 9:30am. If you can help volunteer, please let me know! This is an incredible event that raises all our PTO funds for the entire year. More information will come home next week!

7. We have 5th grade buddies this year and will do many amazing projects together. As we prepare for our first project, we are collecting toilet paper tubes. If you have any and can send them in over the next few weeks, we would greatly appreciate it!
