We had a great day!
Thank you for joining us today for the morning routine and Kissing Hand story!
Once everyone was back at the carpet and we were ready to start our day, we played a name game. The game is called Higgelty Piggelty and we sing and practice our names. We then read a book called The Bathroom in our Classroom. The kiddos learned how to hold up the bathroom sign, how to shut/lock the door, and wash hands. We also talked about not just walking in when the door is closed, but knocking and listening before entering.
We went out for recess with our kindergarten friends and had the best time running, laughing, and playing. After recess, we came inside and did a Kissing Hand activity. This activity will go in our memory books that you'll get at the end of the year. We then transitioned to calendar time. During calendar today, we learned why we do calendar ("to learn the months, days of the week, the date, and the year").
Our afternoon was filled with lunch, recess, a class picture (for memory books), math, snack, show and share, quiet time, P.E., an afternoon recess, and free choice.
Thank you SO much for having your child's transportation tag on! It was incredibly smooth and low stress for everyone! Please make sure your child's transportation tag is correct and attached to their backpack for Monday!
Important Information:
1. If you didn't today, please send in your child's bus they decorated so we can hang them in the hall.
2. Please complete and return the First Day of Kindergarten question page (that you picked up this morning). If you need another, please let me know and I'll send one home.
3. If your child is having cold lunch and has any nut products in their lunch, please put a note on the outside of their lunch box so we can help direct them to the appropriate table. We know this is an extra step, but it is SO important to help keep all kids safe. Please also tell your child if they have nuts.
4. McTeacher Night is September 18th at McDonalds at the Y. Kinder teachers will be working from 4-5pm. Please join us at this fun event!
5. APEX Fun Run - This is a once a year fundraiser that will take place on September 19th at around 9:30am. If you can help volunteer, please let me know! This is an incredible event that raises all our PTO funds for the entire year. More information will come home next week!
6. We have 5th grade buddies this year and will do many amazing projects together. As we prepare for our first project, we are collecting toilet paper tubes. If you have any and can send them in over the next few weeks, we would greatly appreciate it!
