Our day started with a new shared reading text (No More Monkeys Jumping On The Bed). We discussed the roles of the author and the illustrator, as well as continued our questioning of the text. After shared read, we went right into our reading group time; where kiddos worked on letter ID, letter sounds, sight words, decoding, handwriting, and listening. Once groups were over, we went outside for recess. It is getting quite a bit colder outside. Thank you for sending jackets with your kiddos! After recess, we did our morning message, calendar, and Daily News. We are continuing to focus on our new sight words (both reading and spelling them). During math, we practiced number ID, writing numbers, and making a counting path (basically, learning how to mark each item counted, so we don't double count). Our morning ended with writing. We are continuing to work on our opinion writing. Today we started a new opinion write (I like school because...).
Our afternoon was filled with lunch, recess, a social skills lesson, art, snack, show & share, quiet time, and free choice.
