Your child will be bringing
home a “Take Home Book” tonight as part of their homework.
Everyone will bring a book
home on Monday to be returned on Thursday. They will get a different book on Thursday to be returned on Monday.
Included is an orange paper
for you to indicate whether the book is too easy, just right, or too hard.
Too Easy: Read fluently with zero
errors the first time.
Just Right: Able to read with few
errors (less than 3), using picture clues, sounding out, and sight words.
Too Hard: More than 3 errors and
experiencing frustration.
If you’re not sure what to
mark, please just put a question mark on the orange paper.
Tips:
1. Make this a special “cozy”
reading time together.
2. Don’t cover the pictures.
Kids use pictures as clues.
3. Bedtime is not the best
time.
4. If your child is just
beginning to read, please read aloud their book first and then read it
together.
5. Please don't let your child color or draw in the book. It is part of my curriculum.
An important part of your child’s reading
development is the habit of reading. Please encourage and praise all attempts
at reading.
4. Please send in any important school papers, if you haven't already.
5. You will be able to schedule your child's conference on Wednesday. Please see the attached letter for directions on how to schedule.
6. The PTO meeting is tomorrow in the library at 6:30pm.
7. Below is the link to sign up to help with our school book fair starting October 16th. If you are interested in helping set up/work the book fair please sign up with the link.
