Friday News

We had a great day together!
We started with our Happy Camper interview and name book. We then transitioned right to reading groups, where students worked on letter ID, letter sounds, handwriting, and listening. After reading groups, we went outside with our kindergarten friends. Once recess was over, we came inside and finished our opinion writing (Which apple do you like best: red, green, or yellow?). We worked hard on choosing our opinion, but also in supplying a reason for our choice. After writing, we did our morning message, calendar, and Daily News (shared writing). We ended our morning with math - counting and connecting the different groups to the corresponding number.

Our afternoon was filled with lunch, recess, P.E., write the room (ABCs), snack, show & share, quiet time, music, and a fire drill.

Important Information:
1. Communication folders were collected today. They will come home Monday with new papers and information.

2. Dates to Note:

October 17th - 24th Book Fair in the PV Library
October 17th – Half Day (Conferences in the afternoon)
October 18th – No School (Conferences)
October 19th – No School (Conferences in the am)

3. Starting Wednesday October 3rd you will be able to start signing up for conferences via Pick A Time. The link will be available starting next week.

4. If your child brought back their library book (in it's big plastic bag) on Thursday, they were able to check out a new book. Their new books were sent home today.

5. Reading groups start on Monday at 9:30am and will be done by 10:15am.

6. Take Home Books will be coming home on Monday. Included with the book is a letter all about how to read the book with your child, along with the routine of the program.

7. Please tell your child if they are having hot lunch or cold lunch each day. This will help when we do our lunch count. Also, please tell your child if they need to sit at the peanut table (meaning, you packed PB&J or they have items that contain or were processed with nuts). Kinders get very confused and it's difficult to look through every kiddos lunch before they sit down.

8. The Halloween Party will be on Wednesday, October 31 from 12:40-1:40pm in our classroom. Parents are welcome to join for any or all of the party! :) Parent costumes are also welcome!

9. Below is the link to sign up to help with our school book fair starting October 16th.  If you are interested in helping set up/work the book fair, please sign up with the link below.
