We had a wonderful day!
Our day started with our first week of kindergarten packet. We wrote our names and did our best coloring on the cover. We then did Higgelty Piggelty (a name game) to learn all our friends' names. When we'd finished our game, we read Pete the Cat - Rocking In My School Shoes. We then discovered that Pete had left a note saying he was exploring our school. We went to "find" him and learned all about the different places in our school (music room, lunch room, gym, office, and library). We were super sad that Pete had to leave before we could find him, but he did leave us a special coloring page to work on. We were able to go outside for recess with all of our kinder friends. Once recess was over, we came in and did our very first math lesson. The lesson was all about finding items that were exactly the same and not exactly the same. When math was over, we read a book called Boris the Bear Remembers His Manners.
We talked about good choices and poor choices at school. Then, together, we sorted different pictures of choices.
Our afternoon was filled with lunch, recess, Happy Camper interview, library, snack, show and share, quiet time, free choice, and the APEX fun run assembly.
Important Information:
1. Communication Folders will come home tomorrow (we were just waiting to get our last few supplies in and now they are all ready. Typically, the folders will come on Monday).
2. APEX Pledge Packets came home today in a lanyard holder. The actually fun run will be held on September 20th. As soon as I know, I'll send home what time we'll be running.
3. We have started "Show and Share" - if your child has a brown bag in their backpack, please help them choose a small item to share, write three clues, and I will help them "show and share" in class.
4. Please complete all school paperwork and turn it in as soon as possible!
5. Individual pictures will be taken on September 24th. Information will be coming home soon!
