Wednesday News

We had an awesome Wednesday!

We began our morning with literacy morning work in which we practiced word families, writing a sentence, and sight word unscrambling.

Next, we had morning message, calendar, daily news, and a nice recess outside! Afterwards, we came in and began reading groups. During groups, we did sight word practice by creating words with magnetic letters and writing them in sentences and on their own, sight word practice ("not") with q-tips and paint, handwriting, and listened to a story.

After reading groups we had math. During math we continued to group objects into a a bundle of 10 and "ones" left over. Next, we had narrative writing. We began with our narrative writing chant together again and then wrote our second sentence of our narrative story together.

Next we had lunch, recess, and science (our unit is animal needs). During science the students got to work together in groups to create posters of their animal and include the animals name, what food they bought for them at the "grocery store" with their shopping lists, if it is an herbivore, carnivore, or omnivore, and then presented these to the class! The kids had so much fun with this and it was really exciting to watch them create and share these together. Our afternoon was filled with music, snack and show and share, quiet time, recess, and free choice centers!
