We began our morning with literacy morning work in which we worked on word families, completing a sentence, and unscrambling sight words.
Next, we had morning message, calendar, and daily news. Afterwards, we had a great recess outside! Then, we came in and began reading groups. During reading groups, we practiced substituting sounds and reading our decodable text, number writing, sight word practice, and listened to a story.
After reading groups we had math in which we used our linking cubes and number bonds to discover different ways to make 10. We also wrote different addition equations that make 10. Next, we did narrative writing and added our next sentence to our story with a detail to follow our narrative introduction.
Our afternoon was filled with lunch, recess, library, and science. During science we discussed animal needs and different types of animal diets, herbivores carnivores, and omnivores. Next we had an extra recess (earned from class hawk awards), snack and show and share, quiet time, recess, and free choice centers!
