We began our morning with literacy morning work in which we worked on word families, completing a sentence, and unscrambling sight words.
Next, we had morning message and calendar, and a fun recess outside! The kids loved playing in the sunshine and creating some pretty cool chalk activities. Afterwards, we came in and began reading groups. During groups, we read and did math number bond and equation practice with different ways to make sums, sight word practice, handwriting, and an iPad app "Teach Your Monster to Read."
After reading groups we had narrative writing. We practiced our narrative writing chant, added an illustration to our story we have been creating, and read our story together. Next, we did addition story problems with strategies including drawing objects, ten frames, number lines, and addition equations.
Next, we had lunch, recess, and science. During science we talked about different animal diets and then we played a matching game to match animals as herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores according to what they eat. Students got to share some of these animals and what they eat with the class. The remainder of our afternoon was filled with PE, music, snack and show and share, quiet time, free choice centers, and recess!

Please continue to practice the Magic Five! If your child can do all the parts, please practice writing lowercase letters correctly, counting past 100, counting on from a number (not starting at 1), and writing all our sight words.
