We had a great Wednesday!
We began our morning with literacy morning work. We practiced writing our beginning and ending sounds, unscrambling sight words, and using words to complete sentences. Then, we had a lesson with our school counselor Ms. Cox, on feelings and empathy.
Next, we had a nice sunny recess outside and then came in and began reading groups. During groups, we practiced phonemic awareness and reading, handwriting, ABC book ("Qq"), and listened to a story.
After reading groups we had math in which we worked on subtraction within 10 with number bonds and objects. After math, we had writing in which we practiced our "when, where, who, what" chant again and some examples of stories. We will continue to go over parts of our narrative writing introduction this week.

Our afternoon was filled lunch, recess, alphatales, subitizing practice, music, snack and show and share, quiet time, recess, and free choice centers.

Please continue to practice the Magic Five! If your child can do all the parts, please practice writing lowercase letters correctly, counting past 100, counting on from a number (not starting at 1), and writing all our sight words. Click the picture below to enlarge.

3. An important questionnaire (green half sheet of paper) was sent home last week in communication folders. Please indicate whether or not your child will be returning to Prairie View next year and return this form as soon as possible!
4. Yearbook order forms were sent home this week. Please return them by May 11th.
