We had a great Monday!
We began our morning with science in which students brainstormed some ideas of things living animals need to live and grow. Students got to illustrate and share their ideas. Then, we had morning message, calendar, and daily news.
Next, we had a great recess outside! Afterwards, we came in and began reading groups. During groups, we introduced the theme for this week and reviewed our letter sounds, number writing, sight word writing practice, and listened to a story.
After reading groups we had math in which we practiced more subtraction story problems and worked on taking away from 10 by drawing objects and also writing the corresponding number bond and equation.
Next, we had lunch and recess, and then a narrative writing lesson. We reviewed our chant and wrote a narrative introduction together. Our afternoon was filled with PE, snack and show and share, quiet time, recess, free choice centers, and our class earned party "movie". We watched an episode of "Super Why" focusing on phonics skills and some musical instruments we have learned about in music.

Please continue to practice the Magic Five! If your child can do all the parts, please practice writing lowercase letters correctly, counting past 100, counting on from a number (not starting at 1), and writing all our sight words.
