Monday News

We had a great Monday and first day back!

I hope you had a wonderful spring break! We began our morning with math morning work. We practiced drawing objects in a ten frame, addition equations, and representing numbers in different ways.

Then, we had our morning message, calendar, and daily news. Next, we had a great recess outside. After recess, we had reading groups. During groups, we introduced our new theme this week (animals then and now) and talked about fiction versus reality, we practiced our sounds and phonemic awareness, and reviewed some of our sight words, handwriting, listened to a story, and sight word practice.

After reading groups we had a math lesson on taking away by crossing out objects, creating a subtraction equation, and filling in our number bonds. Next, we had introduced our last form of writing, narrative writing and the parts of a story.

Our afternoon was filled lunch, recess, a story "If the Dinosaurs Came Back." After reading, we had PE, snack and show and share, quiet time, recess, and free choice centers.
