We had a wonderful day!
We began our day with morning work focusing on literacy, sight words, and word families. Next, we had our morning message and a lesson about empathy and emotions with Ms. Cox.
Next, we had a great recess outside. After recess, we had reading groups. During groups, we practiced our phonemic awareness and decoding, letter practice, math fluency, and a reading app on iPads.
After reading groups we did our opinion writing on the two books we have read this week, sharing what we liked about them.

Our afternoon was filled with lunch, recess, alphatales with the letter "Vv", and a jelly bean sort. We used different colored jelly beans to create a bar graph, and tomorrow we will be finishing this activity by "analyzing" our data. Each student put their jelly beans in a ziplock in which we will be sending home with them tomorrow. They have been instructed not to eat them until they have asked for permission and are home tomorrow. If you would like to talk to them about this we wanted to give you a heads up.
The rest of our afternoon was filled with music, snack and show and share, quiet time, and free choice centers.
