We had a wonderful day together!
We started our day with a literacy morning work - focusing on sight words. We then transitioned to morning message, where we learned all about our new letter Uu, the /u/ sound, and our new sight words here, was, and they. During calendar we focused on counting, months of the year, place value, and number bonds. We also published our Daily News paper.
We were able to go outside for a glorious recess in the sun!
After recess, we did reading groups; focusing on our new unit them, reading our new books, ABC books, the sight word "they," and listening.
After reading groups we moved in to math - continuing to focus on number bonds (and the various arrangements they can be in). We worked collaboratively to solve a few number bond questions, too.
When math was over, we moved right into writing. We are continuing to focus on informational writing. This week we are studying lions (we'll end the month with an informational write about lambs). ;) We had enough time to read a short book on lions and watch an informational clip.
Our afternoon was filled with lunch, recess, PE, snack, show and share, quiet time, and free choice centers.
