Friday News

We had a fantastic day!

We started our day with our morning work (#9) and our shared reading time (focusing on reading with accuracy, expression, using concept vocabulary, and identifying the /t/ sound). After shared reading, we transitioned to morning message and calendar time (focusing on place value, counting, and the date).

I wish you could have seen your child's face when they saw it was snowing outside! We bundled up and then ran, laughed, and played in the (very small amount of) snow. Just a loving reminder, as the weather gets colder, we will continue to go outside for recess. Please send coats, gloves, boots, hats, etc. for your child!!!

After recess, we went right into reading groups, where students worked on letter ID, letter sounds, asking questions about text, annotating text, handwriting, and listening (Froggy Goes to Camp).

Once groups were over and picked up, we started writing. Today was an especially fun writing time because we wrote, in our opinion, what was best about our dads! Remember to stop by the hall outside our classroom on Donuts with Dads Day to read what your kiddo wrote (and to see their awesome pictures)!

Before lunch, we did a quick math lesson on "one less." The students are so confident during math and are working hard to learn all the new concepts!

Our afternoon was filled with lunch, recess, comparing and contrasting this week's big books, PE, music, snack, show and share, quiet time, and recess.

Important Information:
1. Communication Folders were collected and will come home on Monday! Just FYI - in the communication folders, there will be information about how to log into RAZ Kids. RAZ Kids is the exact program that I've printed their Take Home Books from. With this log in information, your child has access to many more books at their Take Home Book level. There are also many fun incentives that encourage reading!

2. Please continue to practice the Magic Five with your kiddo!

3. If you haven't already, please email me if you'd like to join us on our Dec. 14th field trip! For safety and space reasons, we cannot have siblings join us on the field trip. Thank you for understanding!

4. Please send in $10 cash for your child's field trip lunch. I will collect all the money ahead of time and then make little field trip bags for each child (with their money inside).

5. Nov. 6th is the next PTO meeting.

6. Donuts with Dad is Nov. 8th from 8:00-9:00am. There will be donuts in the cafeteria for you to enjoy together, as well as the book fair in the library. Please note, there is an morning all district meeting on Nov. 8th. Mrs. Snider will not be here and our classroom will be closed. All writing and art will be in the hall for you to enjoy!

7. The Veteran's Day assembly will be on Nov. 9th from 10-10:45am.
Just a loving reminder, our class will be singing two songs at the assembly (please dress your child in red, white, and blue) and please send your pictures to Mrs. Wiser!
