We had a fantastic day together!
Our day started with morning work (#8) and then a whole group shared reading (Bear and Fox). We focused on visualizing what happens in a story, identifying the last word (paying attention to punctuation), and reading with expression. We then transitioned to morning message, calendar, and Daily News.
Recess was chilly outside, but the kiddos still loved playing and running together!
During reading groups the students worked on letter ID, letter sounds, identifying characters, author/illustrator, the sight word "see," handwriting, and listening (When Dinosaurs Came With Everything).
We then transitioned to writing our opinion (Which sport do you like better - soccer or basketball?). The students are doing such a beautiful job sounding out words and writing their opinions with a reason (I like basketball because ______.).
Our afternoon was filled with lunch, recess, library, a whole group extended read (describing story characters using text evidence), snack, show & share, quiet time, and free choice centers.
