Happy Friday!
Our day started with a whole group shared reading - comparing and contrasting informational text and realistic fiction. As a class, we found numerous similarities and differences. We then did morning message and calendar - again looking at patterns and place value.
We then transitioned to math, where we again worked on the number 9, how to write it, count it, and also find hidden partners within it.
Recess was filled with running, sunshine, and a tiny bit of wind. :)
After recess, we went right into reading groups. Students worked on letter ID, sound, finding text evidence, building, and listening.
Once groups were over, we worked on our opinion writing. We talked again about what an opinion is and then wrote our own opinion (Which color is better - red or blue?). We were sure to not only say which one we liked best, but also WHY.
Before lunch, we also did a phonics lesson on the letters Uu, Vv, Ww, Xx, Yy, and Zz.
The afternoon was again filled with lunch, recess, a Royal Reader birthday celebration, P.E., music, snack (pizza, thanks to our PTO), show & share, and quiet time.
