We started with our Happy Camper interviews, followed by morning message, calendar, and Daily News. We were able to go outside for our first recess and the students ran, played, and even attempted to swing on their own. After recess, we worked on rhyming and phonological awareness. We then transitioned to our tables and worked on our "First Week of Kindergarten" packet. We did one page, but it is the most difficult (kinders write their name, numbers to 10, and the alphabet). When students were finished, we washed hands, and went to lunch. I can tell that you're helping your kiddos with their lunch choice because they are like old pros at lunch now. Thank you for your support! After lunch and recess (indoor, due to smoke), we did math. As a "team" we sorted various items according to the type of weather you'd use each in. We ended our day with snack, show & share, quiet time, recess (indoor), and the handwriting screen. For the handwriting screen, our OT comes in and administers a short assessment. I was beyond proud of how hard the kiddos worked and listened. Please high-five them tonight! Lastly, we were able to play at our different free choice centers.
They were AMAZING today!

You can help our school be successful in the following four ways:
1. Help connect your child to potential sponsors (family/friends) to acquire pledges.
2. Ask your child about the “United” character lessons, and download the “Apex Fun Run” App!
3. Come to the Apex Fun Run and don’t forget to invite others to attend our fun-filled community event.
4. Help volunteer for the race! We need a few parents to help cheer on students and mark laps. If you would like to volunteer for your student’s race, please contact Sarah Green at sarahgreenbirthdoula@gmail.com.
2. Please tell your child if they are having hot or cold lunch before they leave each day. We still get very confused about what we're having at lunch, so a little parent support would be great!
3. When packing your child's healthy snack, please put it in a different part of their backpack.
4. Please make sure that your child's transportation tag matches what they will be doing at the end of the day.
5. If you haven't yet, please start practicing the magic five. A good piece to start with is counting (1-100) and identifying numbers to 20 (flashcards are in your open house folder).
6. If you haven't yet, please send $10 cash in for your child's kindergarten shirt. I need to send it in as soon as possible.
6. If you haven't yet, please send $10 cash in for your child's kindergarten shirt. I need to send it in as soon as possible.
7. Please turn in all school paperwork and the first day question I sent home last week. If you can't find the first day question page, please let me know and I can send you a new one.
