Monday News

We had a wonderful day together!
We started our day together with the APEX team. We learned all about "being teachable." We then interviewed our Happy Camper, did calendar, and Daily News. Right as we were preparing for morning recess, the rain stopped and we were able to go outside. Once recess was over, we learned all about reading groups and practiced doing different activities at each table. We focused on words, spaces between words, the title of our book, handwriting, as well as play-doh and building (to help our fine motor skills). The students did a beautiful job at each station and rotated between tables likes pros! :) We then transitioned to math, where we worked on sorting objects by the number of items in each group. We practiced this skill together at our tables. After math, we went to lunch and recess. When recess was over, we learned all about opinion writing ("what I think") and shared our opinion of what book we liked best (Pete the Cat or If You Take A Mouse to School). As an extra challenge, we also shared WHY we made that choice. After writing, we went down to the gym for PE. The kiddos ran and played very hard! When the students returned to class, we did snack, show and share, quiet time, and afternoon recess. We ended our day together with some free choice centers.
