We had a great day!
We continued studying bears and, after reviewing all the facts we know, students independently filled out their organizers. I'm truly impressed with how well the kinders are sounding out, writing, and using punctuation.
We had our fifth personal safety lesson with Ms. Wolfe: Review the Never Keep Secrets Rule and Touching Rule. The touching rule is that a bigger person should never touch your private body parts except to keep you healthy. Refusing and reporting when someone has broken the Touching Rule can help make sure the touching stops. Children learned that it is NEVER their fault if someone breaks the Touching Rule.
After personal safety we did our calendar and Daily News routine, as well as reading groups. The students worked on the /b/ sound, sight words, listening, and handwriting. We ended our day with a review of number bonds and started our bear project that we'll be finishing tomorrow.
Important Information:
1. Take Home Books are due tomorrow (3-9).
2. Personal Safety lessons will continue tomorrow through Thursday. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding personal safety.
3. Bear Buddy Day is Friday, March 10th. Kinders can wear cozy clothes (pj's, sweats, etc.) and bring in a Teddy Bear to read with/do activities with.
4. Just a loving reminder that we have our RAZ Kids subscription. This is a fun way for kinders to practice reading at their level. Please let me know if you have any questions about the program.
5. Our two snow make up days will be March 17th and May 26th.
6. Grandparents Day is March 24th from 8-9am.
7. A letter (on green paper) was sent home yesterday. We will be making Leprechaun Traps. I'm asking that you help your child return their traps by 3/15. Please know that an empty cereal box will work, as will a fancy, gold trap (there is ABSOLUTELY no pressure with this)! Put as much or a little time as you and your child want to. :)
