Tuesday Update

We had a wonderful day!
We started our day with a writing task. The students reviewed their informational writing organizers ("All About Me") and then transferred their writing to their final draft paper.

Ms. Wolfe came in for our fourth personal safety lesson: The Touching Rule. The touching rule is that a bigger person should never touch your private body parts except to keep you healthy. We used the example of a mom/dad changing their baby's diaper. The students also learned what they should do if someone does break the "Touching Rule." The student should refuse ("Stop! Don't touch me!") and report ("Mom, my friend broke the touching rule!") to a trusted adult (e.g. parents, teacher, grandparent, etc.).  Refusing and reporting when someone has broken the Touching Rule can help make sure the touching stops. Children learned that it is NEVER their fault if someone breaks the Touching Rule.

After recess, we worked on math number bonds. The students are doing such a great job and really grasping the concept. After math, we did our calendar and Daily News routine, followed by reading groups.

Important Information:
1. Personal Safety lessons will continue tomorrow through Thursday. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding personal safety.

2. Bear Buddy Day is Friday, March 10th. Kinders can wear cozy clothes (pj's, sweats, etc.) and bring in a Teddy Bear to read with/do activities with.

3.  Just a loving reminder that we have our RAZ Kids subscription. This is a fun way for kinders to practice reading at their level. Please let me know if you have any questions about the program.

4. Our two snow make up days will be March 17th and May 26th.

5. Grandparents Day is March 24th from 8-9am.

6. A letter (on green paper) was sent home today. We will be making Leprechaun Traps. I'm asking that you help your child return their traps by 3/15. Please know that an empty cereal box will work, as will a fancy, gold trap (there is ABSOLUTELY no pressure with this)!
