We had a wonderful day!
We started our time together reading one of my favorite books, Pete The Cat - Rocking In My School Shoes. Once we'd finished reading, we discovered that Pete was actually at our school and had left us clues all around the school. We searched/visited the music room, lunch room, gym, office, and library. In the end, we didn't find him, but we are still hoping to find the cow toy he took from Mr. Wiser. ;) We were able to go outside for recess in the glorious sunshine and the kiddos loved running around with their new friends! After recess, the kinders showed me that they could write their name, numbers, and ABC's on their "Look What I Can Do" page. After calendar time, we were also able to do a little free choice.
In addition to all the fun things above, we also talked a lot about keeping our hands to ourselves and being kind to others. :)
Some Housekeeping Items:
1. Please label everything - coats, backpacks, mittens, boots, etc.
2. Please keep sick kiddos home. Colds and flu spread like wildfire in a classroom. If your child has had a fever or thrown up in the past 24 hours, they get to stay home until they are better.
3. Please help your child practice sneezing into their elbow and using a tissue instead of little fingers! :)
4. We go to recess in just about every type of weather, so always help your child dress for the weather (layers are great)!

Important Information:
1. Tomorrow we have library (no books will be checked out tomorrow), music, and P.E. Please be sure your child is wearing good P.E. shoes (no flip flops or sandals, please).
2. Homework folders will start coming home on MONDAY. Please check your child's backpack for the folder and look inside! There are a few important papers that will be coming home.
3. If you haven't yet, please return all the school papers you received on the first day of school (in the large, brown envelope). They are all due to the office tomorrow. If for some reason you don't have them, please email me.
4. Please send your child's "First Day" question page in (handed out on the first day of school at the beginning of class). If you need a new one, please let me know.
5. Please turn in your volunteer forms asap. I will be putting the final calendar together next week.
6. Please make sure that your child has a transportation tag on their backpack and that it matches what they are doing for the day!
7. First PTO Meeting: September 12th in the PV library (6:30-7:30pm).
8. FOR GRADES 1-5: Open House September 14th (check times in your back to school letters)
9. In the upcoming months, there are a few "non student" days (aka, teachers have meetings and the kiddos get the day off) to be aware of. The first is October 14th. Please see the district calendar for other "non student" days and events.
