What a FUN Friday!
We started our day with library in our classroom. Because the library isn't quite ready for kiddos to checkout books, we just looked at different book and practiced our library expectations. All the kinders did a wonderful job and are very excited to check out books next week. :) After library, we made special kindergarten visors. The actual goal for this activity was to practice our cutting skills. Another special thing we did today was welcome Mrs. Riener (our DLC teacher) into our classroom. She read our class a book called Eggbert - The Slightly Cracked Egg. Mrs. Reiner talked about how everyone is different and that we should include others and treat them kindly. Finally, the students had their very first specialist time with Mrs. Mulder (music and P.E.).
Some Housekeeping Items:
1. Please label everything - coats, backpacks, mittens, boots, etc.
2. Please keep sick kiddos home. Colds and flu spread like wildfire in a classroom. If your child has had a fever or thrown up in the past 24 hours, they get to stay home until they are better.
3. Please help your child practice sneezing into their elbow and using a tissue instead of little fingers! :)
4. We go to recess in just about every type of weather, so always help your child dress for the weather (layers are great)!

Important Information:
1. Homework folders will start coming home on MONDAY. Please check your child's backpack for the folder and look inside! There are a few important papers that will be coming home.
2. If you haven't yet, please return all the school papers you received on the first day of school (in the large, brown envelope). They were all due to the office by today. If for some reason you don't have them, please email me.
3. Please send your child's "First Day" question page in (handed out on the first day of school at the beginning of class). If you need a new one, please let me know.
4. Please turn in your volunteer forms asap. I will be putting the final calendar together next week.
5. Please make sure that your child has a transportation tag on their backpack and that it matches what they are doing for the day!
6. First PTO Meeting: September 12th in the PV library (6:30-7:30pm).
7. FOR GRADES 1-5: Open House September 14th (check times in your back to school letters)
8. In the upcoming months, there are a few "non student" days (aka, teachers have meetings and the kiddos get the day off) to be aware of. The first is October 14th. Please see the district calendar for other "non student" days and events.
