Monday News

We had a fantastic Monday!
Our day started with a connect the dot activity. Not only did the kiddos have to connect all the dots while counting, they also had to use their "three star coloring" when they were finished (coloring in the lines, using colors that make sense, and making sure they didn't have any white space in the picture). We then transitioned to calendar, where we worked on our Happy Camper Interview (today we interviewed Mrs. Snider), days of the week, months of the year, counting, graphing, and place value. After calendar, we did our Daily News and learned all about the letter Aa. We also read a book called Animals In The Park: An ABC Book, where the kinders practiced their letters and were introduced to fiction vs. non-fiction. After a sunny recess outside, we made a very cute Pete the Cat. :)

Some Housekeeping Items:
1. Please label everything - coats, backpacks, mittens, boots, etc.
2. Please keep sick kiddos home. Colds and flu spread like wildfire in a classroom. If your child has had a fever or thrown up in the past 24 hours, they get to stay home until they are better.
3. Please help your child practice sneezing into their elbow and using a tissue instead of little fingers! :)
4. We go to recess in just about every type of weather, so always help your child dress for the weather (layers are great)!

Important Information:
1. Homework folders came home today. NOTE: there isn't any homework inside the folders. :) There are a few papers for you. Today we practiced where our folders will be on Mondays and how to put them away. Homework folders are due on Friday.
2. If you haven't yet, please return all school papers and your child's first day question.
3. I think I have all the volunteer forms, so be looking for the volunteer calendar to be posted soon! :)
4. Please make sure your child has their transportation tag pinned to their backpack and that it matches what they are doing for the day!
5. The first PTO meeting is tonight! PTO new family orientation is from 5:30 – 6:30 pm. This will be followed by the actual PTO meeting from 6:30-7:30pm. The PTO meetings take place in the Prairie View library.
6. For Grades 1st-5th: Open House is this Wednesday (9/14).
7. In the upcoming months, there are a few "non student" days (aka, teachers have meetings and the kiddos get the day off) to be aware of. The first is October 14th. Please see the district calendar for other "non student" days and events.
