Tuesday News

We started our day together making our very own January calendars. The purpose was to practice our number writing from 1-20 (numbers 21-31 were already filled in). The kiddos are bringing their calendars home tonight and I said they could hang the calendars up, if it was okay with mom and dad. :) We then transitioned to reading groups, where the kiddos worked on initial sounds, identifying different sounds, capacity, decoding, writing, and listening (The Rain Came Down).
After groups, we went outside for recess. Once recess was over, we did our calendar and Daily News routine. We then transitioned to writing. We are continuing to work on informational writing and currently we are focusing on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as our topic. The students worked very hard to write a beautiful sentence about Dr. King (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was...). Tomorrow we will add another sentence and a picture to our writing. Our morning class also got to celebrate a birthday with a Royal Reader. :)

Important Information:
1. Please read the personal safety letter (either the one that was sent home last week or attached to the email I sent yesterday afternoon).
2. Kindergarten will be starting RAZ-Kids (an on-line reading program) and IXL (an on-line math program) this week. The AM login information did not make it in the backpacks today; however, PM kinders DO have their information. AM will get their information tomorrow. Sorry for the delay! Both these programs are meant to be used as tools to practice and challenge your child. They do not replace the current homework.
3. Grandparent's Day will be March 18, 2016 from 8:15am-9:00am.
