Thursday News

We had a fantastic day!
We started our time together with a project for the memory books we're making. We then transitioned to reading groups, where we worked on phoneme segmentation, blending, reading, sight words, and listening (The Gingerbread Pirates).
After groups, we had indoor recess with Mrs. Wittwer's class. Students were able to play games, dress up, play teacher, read, and do numerous other activities. Once recess was over, we did our normal calendar and Daily News routine. The students have really been focusing on the sight words "to" and "have." Once we were finished with our news, we gathered at the reading rug to talk more about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We wrote one more sentence as a class (He wanted everyone to be treated equal.). Finally, the students drew and colored a picture to go with their writing. Because we're focusing on informational writing, we did discuss what they should draw in order to better inform their readers.
