Wednesday News

Another great day in the books!
We started our time together with a math (winter shapes) activity. The students had to identify the various shapes and then graph how many there were of each. We then transitioned to reading groups, where the kiddos worked on identifying the letter Ii sound (/i/) and where it was in each word (beginning of the word or end of the word). The students also worked on our sight word "go" page, shapes, decoding, reading, and listening (Santa's Stuck). After groups, we went out for a snowy recess. It's always so fun to see the kiddos running and playing with their friends in the snow! :) We then came inside for our calendar and Daily News routine. Finally, we ended our day with continued work on measurement. We measured different items and identified whether the item was short than or longer than our string.

Important Information:
1. Take Home Books are due tomorrow.
2. Please fill out and return the half sheet (goldenrod colored) volunteer/acknowledgment form. Even if you can't volunteer, I need you to mark "NO" and that you understand the field trip is all day AND return it to school.
3. PLEASE SEND YOUR CHILD IN LONG PANTS, COATS, GLOVES, BOOTS, AND HATS. It's very cold outside and we will continue to go outside, even as the snow comes. Below are the district cold weather guidelines:
1. Students will have morning access to their school buildings when the temperature (with wind chill) is below 16 degrees.
2. Recess will be in-doors when the temperature (with wind chill) is below 16 degrees.
3. Please make sure children are equipped and appropriately dressed for cold weather. Coats, hats, and gloves are recommended to assure students remain warm and comfortable while outside.
4. Please remind your kiddo that we will be sharing our homework on Friday and to do their very best. Please remember to mark your child's homework behavior. It's very helpful and allows us to support you and your child!
5. The kindergarten field trip is ALL DAY on December 10th! Please let me know if you can volunteer! We cannot go unless we have one adult for every two kiddos! Permission slips came home today. On the form, please mark whether your child needs medication and whether or not you'll be taking your child from the park and ride at the end of the day OR if your child will ride the school bus back up to Prairie View.
6. Christmas Break is December 21- January 1. School resumes on January 4th.
