Happy Tuesday!
We started our day together with a little art. We decorated our art folders that will hold all our special projects until our MoMMa event (which replaces Muffins with Mom) in the spring. We then transitioned to reading groups, where the kiddos worked on tapping out sounds, identifying letter sounds, writing, ABC books (letter Ii), handwriting (letter Ii), and listening (Merry Un-Christmas). After reading groups, we went outside for a fun and very chilly recess. Please see the district guidelines regarding weather below:
When it is cold outside elementary schools will use the following general guidelines for outside time:
1. Students will have morning access to their school buildings when the temperature (with wind chill) is below 16 degrees.
2. Recess will be in-doors when the temperature (with wind chill) is below 16 degrees.
3. Please make sure children are equipped and appropriately dressed for cold weather. Coats, hats, and gloves are recommended to assure students remain warm and comfortable while outside.
After recess, we did our calendar and Daily News, followed by math. During math we learned all about measuring (specifically focusing on taller than and shorter than). After math, we wrote a letter to Santa. I assured students that Santa receives numerous letters from kiddos and that this is a special kindergarten letter (they should still do their letter from home)! We will send the kindergarten Santa letters next week while we're on our field trip.
Important Information:
1. Please fill out and return the half sheet (goldenrod colored) volunteer/acknowledgment form. Even if you can't volunteer, I need you to mark "NO" and that you understand the field trip is all day AND return it to school.
2. PLEASE SEND YOUR CHILD IN LONG PANTS, COATS, GLOVES, BOOTS, AND HATS. It's very cold outside and we will continue to go outside, even as the snow comes.
3. Please remind your kiddo that we will be sharing our homework on Friday and to do their very best. Please remember to mark your child's homework behavior. It's very helpful and allows us to support you and your child!
4. The kindergarten field trip is ALL DAY on December 10th! Please let me know if you can volunteer! We cannot go unless we have one adult for every two kiddos! Permission slips will be coming home tomorrow.
5. Christmas Break is December 21- January 1. School resumes on January 4th.
