Weekly Update

This week we'll be studying the letter Uu, the /u/ sound, and how to write it. Our new sight words are big and with. Please help your kiddo practice reading, but also spelling these words. Below is a complete list of sight words that have been taught in class.
In math we are continuing to work on the term "equal" and show what equal looks like with objects and in an equation. During calendar, we are continuing to practice counting, place value, number identification, and patterns with shapes.

We are also continuing our work with informational writing. Specifically, we are studying groundhogs (what they have and can do). The kiddos are so excited for you to see their writing, but also their name writing (first and last name).

We will celebrate Valentine's Day on February 12th. We don't do a huge party, but we will be passing out our cards, reading them, decorating cookies, and playing Valentine Bingo (if we have time). All parents are welcome! If you have questions, please feel free to email me.

Please also help your child make a Valentine's box at home and send to school on 2/12. *Note: Target has some little kits you can buy that are cute and easy! This activity is VERY low stress, so no pressure to make the boxes elaborate!

Important Information:
1. We have P.E. tomorrow. If you ever want to see our full specialist schedule, it's posted on the right-hand side of the blog.

2. Wednesday, February 12 - We will celebrate Valentine's Day. If you'd like to come help the kiddos pass out/read their cards that would be great. We DO write names on cards in kindergarten, so I will send home the class list asap so your kiddo can get an early start! :)

3. Conferences - February 12-14th. There will be a half-day 2/12 and Non-Students Days 2/13 & 2/14.

4. The 100th Day of School is coming up! We will celebrate on February 19th. If your child would like to, they can dress up as their 100 year old self (the kinder teachers will dress up too!).
