We started with our morning work (focusing on the number 5). We then learned how to do reading groups. Students worked on writing with me at my front table, patterns, counting, and listening. After rotations, we went outside for recess with our kindergarten friends. When recess was over, we came inside and learned all about our focus this week - apples. We counted apples, tasted apples, chose our favorite kind of apple (red, yellow, or green), and started talking about our opinions. We are gearing up to do our first opinion ("what I think") write.
Our afternoon was filled with lunch, library (book checkout), message/calendar time, Happy Camper interview, name books, snack, show & share, quiet time, afternoon recess, and free choice.
Important Information:
1. Conferences are coming up! Please note: The on-line conference scheduler will be open on Monday, Sept 30 and will close on Oct 10th.
2. I have started working on the volunteer calendar. It's not finished, but will be shortly. I only post reading group and communication folder volunteers on the blog. I will contact other volunteers directly for the remaining jobs/times.
3. Please make sure your child has the appropriate transportation tag on their backpack. Let me know if you need a new one or if you have any questions about them.
4. If your child is having cold lunch and has any nut products in their lunch, please put a note on the outside of their lunch box so we can help direct them to the appropriate table. We know this is an extra step, but it is SO important to help keep all kids safe. Please also tell your child if they have nuts and if they're having cold or hot lunch.
5. Picture Day is coming up (September 25)! Please fill out and return the picture form as soon as possible!
