Friday News

Our day started with an extended read (The Little Helper). We are continuing to focus on the characters in stories, questioning, and sounding out words we don't know. After our mini lesson, we went right into reading groups where students worked on letter ID, letter sounds, sight words, reading, handwriting, and listening. When groups were over, we went outside for recess. After recess, we did our morning message and calendar routine, focusing on sight word spelling, the /s/ sound, counting, place value, and graphing. During math, we did a little number writing practice, focusing on number ID and number formation. We ended our morning with a writing lesson. We are still working on opinion writing and today wrote all about why we liked our costumes. I'm so impressed with how quickly the kinders are catching on to segmenting their sounds and writing their sentences.

Our afternoon was filled with lunch, recess, P.E., snack, show & share, library, and free choice.
