Monday News

We had a wonderful day together!
We started with our shared reading (School Rules). We are continuing to discuss why rules are important and today worked on asking questions before, during, and after we read. After our shared read, we went right into reading groups where kiddos worked on letter ID, letter sounds, their ABC books (Mm page), handwriting, and listening. After groups, we went outside for recess. When recess was over, we came in and did our morning message. During our morning message, I introduced our new letter of the week (Mm), the /m/ sound, chicken - giraffe - and monkey letters, and our first sight word (I).
During calendar, we worked on number ID, counting, identifying parts of the calendar, writing the date, and counting the days we've been in school. We also worked on our Daily News paper. During math, we continued our work with hidden partners. We are also getting reading to start our opinion write for the week (The best thing about my dad...).

Our afternoon was filled with lunch, recess, extended read (focusing on questioning), our Happy Camper interview, library, snack, show & share, quiet time, and free choice.
