Monday News

We had a great Monday!

Our day began as we realized that Silly McGilly visited our classroom over the weekend! We took our clipboards and searched around the room to count the tricks he played in our classroom. Next, we had calendar time, morning message, and daily news. We learned our new letter of the week "Gg" as we read our "G" story and chant. 

We got to enjoy a beautiful recess full of sunshine and lots of fun!

After recess, we had our reading groups. During groups, we introduced our new unit theme (insects), colored "Gg" in our alphabet book, handwriting, and listened to a story. 

When groups were over, we did math. During math, we continued to work on number bonds as we played a game using paper plates and linking cube sticks to compose our parts and whole. Next, we discussed some of the animals we have studied recently to set us up for our opinion writing this week. 

Our afternoon was filled with lunch, recess, our fifth personal safety lesson (emailed to you as well), PE, quiet time, snack, show and share, free choice centers, and a royal reader!

Please continue to practice the Magic Five! If your child can do all the parts, please practice writing lowercase letters correctly, counting past 100, counting on from a number (not starting at 1), and writing all our sight words. Click the picture below to enlarge.

2. Take Home Books were exchanged and returned today!

3. Upcoming Dates to Note:

-April 2-6th - NO SCHOOL (Spring Break)

4. March 19-23 is Our Community Reads. Tomorrow is Whoville Hair Day (aka - Crazy Hair Day).

5. Bingo for Books is Wednesday (3/21) from 6:30-8pm.

6. Book Fair is March 22-30th! 

7. Grandparents Day is March 23 from 8-9am!
