Tuesday News

We had a great day!

We started with our morning work, focusing on letter sounds, sight words, and initial sounds. We then moved to our shared reading time. During shared reading, we learned how to determine importance in an informational text, how to read with appropriate rate, and identified words that start with the /f/ sound. After shared reading, we met at the calendar rug for morning message and calendar time. We practiced reading and spelling our sight words, as well as identifying the /f/ sound in our new poem (Fuzzy Fox and Fiddle). During calendar, we practiced counting, worked on place value, and understanding months of the year. After calendar, we moved to the reading area to do Daily News.

Recess was outside. The kiddos played on the toys and raced around the field. Thank you for sending your kiddo in warm clothes/coats! It's starting to get very chilly outside!

After recess, we went right into reading groups. During groups, we worked on letter ID, letter sounds, sight words, identifying main idea, retelling, handwriting, and listening.

During writing time, we wrote our opinions - What do you like best - cupcake or cake? I cannot tell you how impressed I am with the kiddos and their writing!

Our afternoon was filled with lunch, recess, library, extended read (recognizing the sequence of how plants grow), show & share, snack, buddies, quiet time, and free choice centers.
