Monday News

We had a wonderful day!

We started with some letter recognition practice (specifically the letters Ww, Xx, Yy, Zz). We then transitioned to calendar and Daily News. We are getting closer and closer to the 100th day of school and the kinders can barely stand the excitement! :) If your child hasn't already, please help them bring in their bag of 100 {small-ish} things.

Today we also learned all about the letter Hh and the /h/ sound. The kinders listened to the story Hide and Seek Hippo and tried to guess different pictures that start with the letter Hh.

We had in-door recess today, as the blacktop was SUPER icy. Hopefully we'll get to go outside again soon! We are all ready to run! :)

After another math lesson about "greater" and "less," the kinders joined me at the reading rug to listen to a story all about foxes.
After the story, we shared with our elbow partner all the facts we'd learned. Once back at their seats, we watched a clip of a fox hunting.
I've attached the link below. It's quite amazing and I highly recommend watching it! :)

After compiling all our facts, we continued the theme and made a fox art project. Obviously, it's very cute, but it was also a cutting assessment that I'll share with you at conferences.

Important Information:
1. Take Home Books were exchanged today.

2. Conferences are Feb. 15th, 16th, and 17th. Please note, first through fifth grades have a half day on Feb. 15th; however, the kinder schedule does not change.

3. There is NO SCHOOL on Feb. 16th and 17th.

4. NO SCHOOL on Feb. 20th - President's Day!

5. Please help your child remember to bring in their bag of 100 things before Feb. 14th.

6. A Valentine list came home today. Please make sure that your child brings their cards in on Feb. 14th. Also, kiddos can make a Valentine box/envelope at home. Please just help your kiddo make the box openings big enough for some homemade Valentines. :)
