We had a wonderful day together!
We started with a math lesson on the words "greater" and "fewer." The students then colored a robot made out of different shapes. Once students were done coloring their robot they compared the number of each shape, determining which had more or less. After math, we did our calendar, message, and Daily News routine. We also learned all about the letter Ff, the /f/ sound, and that both capital and lower case Ff are giraffe letters (meaning they touch the top and the bottom line). We did indoor recess today. Once recess was over, we had reading groups. The kiddos worked on initial sounds, reading, sight words, handwriting, and listening (The Cheese). After reading groups, we learned what informational writing is and practiced identifying the difference between opinions and facts.
Important Information:
1. Homework folders came home today. There were a number of kiddos who didn't have their homework folders. Please help them put their homework in their folders at home. I also gave a couple kiddos new folders. Please let me know if you have any questions about homework or how the homework folders work.
2. RAZ kids is down. I will let you know when it's back up and running. I've contacted the company and am just waiting to hear back.
3. All progress reports have been completed. Please, please, please practice the circled/highlighted items.
4. Conferences are coming up! Feb. 15-17. Just a loving reminder that on 2/15, we have our normal kinder schedule. First through fifth grade have half days, but our start and end times do not change. No school on 2/16 or 2/17.
5. Please check the volunteer calendar. If you aren't able to continue volunteering, please just let me know so I can get the time/dates covered. Thanks so much for doing this!
