Our day started with our Target Experts. The three targets they were responsible for were:
Target #1: I can follow directions.
Target #2: I can count.
Target #3: I can listen to a story and answer questions.
We then did our October self portraits, focusing on following directions and our self concept (Target #1). After drawing our portraits, we did our calendar and daily news routine; focusing on counting (Target #2), place value and our four sight words we've practiced so far (I, can, we, the). Both AM and PM classes had indoor recess, due to rain. However, the kiddos still loved their life and played very well with their friends! Once recess was over, we read the book Peter's Chair and discussed the characters, made predictions, and retold the story once it was over (Target #3).
The kiddos then went back to their desks and we worked on finding hidden partners and counting to 9 (Target #2). Both classes had free choice and our PM class celebrated a birthday with a Royal Reader!
Important Information:
1. Homework folders came home today; however, we don't have a homework packet this week. Please read with your child, work on sight words, number identification, letter identification, and letter sounds.
2. Take Home Books were exchanged today!
3. Conferences are this week: 10/19, 10/20, and 10/21. Please note, even though 1-5th have a half day on Wednesday, kinders have a regular day (AM: 9:10-11:45 and PM: 12:45-3:20).
NO SCHOOL THURSDAY (10/20) AND FRIDAY (10/21).
4. Our Halloween Party is Friday, 10/28. Our AM party is from 9:40 - 10:40am and our PM party is from 2:10 - 3:10pm. Kinders DO wear their costumes to school!!!
