Happy Wednesday!
We started our day together with "Target Experts." Three kiddos get to be in charge of a target each. They help me teach the target and even get a Hawk Award at the end of the day for all their help.
The targets for the day were:
1. I can follow directions.
2. I can groups things into three groups.
3. I can write the letters Cc and Dd.
My experts today did a wonderful job and even told other adults what their targets were! :)
After learning all about our targets, we did our Happy Camper Interviews and calendar. During calendar, we worked on the days of the week, months of the year, counting, place value, and graphing. We then transitioned to our daily news and letter study (Cc and Dd). After a sunny recess, we came in for a math lesson all about sorting. At the end of our day, we finished our Chicka Chicka Boom Boom trees and got ready to go.
Some Housekeeping Items:
1. Please label everything - coats, backpacks, mittens, boots, etc.
2. Please keep sick kiddos home. Colds and flu spread like wildfire in a classroom. If your child has had a fever or thrown up in the past 24 hours, they get to stay home until they are better.
3. Please help your child practice sneezing into their elbow and using a tissue instead of little fingers!
4. We go to recess in just about every type of weather, so always help your child dress for the weather (layers are great)!
Important Information:
1. If you haven't yet, please return all school papers and your child's first day question.
2. I think I have all the volunteer forms, so be looking for the volunteer calendar to be posted soon! :)
3. Please make sure your child has their transportation tag pinned to their backpack and that it matches what they are doing for the day!
4. For Grades 1st-5th: Open House is TONIGHT (9/14)!
5. In the upcoming months, there are a few "non student" days (aka, teachers have meetings and the kiddos get the day off) to be aware of. The first is October 14th. Please see the district calendar for other "non student" days and events.
6. Picture Day is coming up! Dorian will be here on Friday (9/23) to take individual and class pictures. Picture order forms will be coming home soon!
