We had a fun-filled day!
Our targets for the day were:
Target #1. I can write the letters Ll and Mm.
Target #2: I can work in a group.
Target #3: I can find the hidden partners.
Our day started with an introduction to the letters/sounds of Ll and Mm. The students then went back to their desks and practiced writing the letters (Target #1). We then went over to the calendar rug and interviewed our Happy Camper. After making the Happy Camper's name book, we did our calendar and Daily News routine. We focused a great deal on what a sentence needs: capital at the beginning, words need to "stick together," and we need a period at the end (which tells our reader to STOP). Once we were done, the kiddos got to go outside for recess. After recess, we did our reading group practice (Target #2). The kiddos are learning how to get their tables ready for reading groups, where to go, and how to rotate. They are doing a beautiful job listening and following directions! Our day ended with a math lesson, focused specifically on hidden partners (e.g. 3 and 2 make 5) (Target #3).
Important Information:
1. Take Home Books are due tomorrow (in their plastic envelope). Please see the directions below for what to do. :)
If you think your child needs a new book or to move up/down a level, please send a note in their plastic book envelope. BOOKS WILL NOT BE EXCHANGED WITHOUT A NOTE!
The Take Home Books are part of my classroom library. Please do not let your child write or color on them. They should be treated like a library book.
2. Please continue to help your child sell cookie dough. Remember, if your kiddo sells or receives donations, to fill out the white coupon and send it in. They will get a Secret Life of Pets key chain for every 1, 3, 6, 9, 12, and 15 tubs they sell/donations they receive.
3. In the upcoming months, there are a few "non student" days (aka, teachers have meetings and the kiddos get the day off) to be aware of. The first is October 14th. Please see the district calendar for other "non student" days and events.
4. Picture Day is coming up! Dorian will be here on Friday (9/23) to take individual and class pictures. Picture order forms are in your child's homework folder!
