We started our day with play-doh (am) and a band concert (pm). We then transitioned to reading groups, where kiddos worked on segmenting sounds, reading, sorting pictures according to initial sounds, sight words, rhyming, and listening (Bear Feels Sick). Our am class had indoor recess and our pm class went outside for recess. We did our normal calendar and Daily News routine, focusing on making ten different ways (e.g. 0+10, 1+9, etc.). During our math time, the students worked on solving addition problems by drawing pictures and equations. Lastly, I read the students a story out of our anthology book called The Rabbit and Elephant. The lesson learned was that it's always better to be kind than bossy.
