We had a great day back together!
This week we'll be focusing on the letter Oo, the /o/ sound, and the sight words he and has. Please continue to practice the circled and highlighted portions of the Magic Five form that was sent home before break. If you have any questions or need support, please let me know!
In math we'll be moving into a new skill: measurement. We will also continue to study place value, counting, skip counting, and number bonds (in preparation for equations).
In writing, we will do an opinion write about our winter break and then we'll transition to a new writing form (informational). We are also starting to do our first and last names on our papers. It's so helpful if you talk to your child about your last name, the letter it starts with, as well as practice it at home.
Lastly, with all the snow/cold weather that's coming, please help your child practice putting on their coat, hat, gloves, snow pants by themselves. If you'll be sending two pairs of shoes with your kiddo (eg. snow boots and running shoes), please have your child practice taking off one pair and putting on the other pair. I really appreciate your help with these things, as I get quite the workout when we get ready for recess in the winter! :)
Important Information:
1. We had library today. The kiddos checked out books and have them in their backpacks.
2. No School - January 20th (MLK Day)
3. Early Release - January 31st
4. Conferences - February 12-14th. There will be a half-day 2/12 and Non-Students Days 2/13 & 2/14. I will send home the conference sign up information soon.
5. We have PE tomorrow (Tuesday)!
