We started our day with morning work (focusing on correct number formation 0-10, as well as patterns). We then went down to the library for the vision and hearing screening. Once the screening was over, we came back to class and did our reading groups. During groups we worked on letter names/sounds, blending, shared reading, handwriting, and listening.
We were able to go outside with our kindergarten friends for a sunny recess.
After recess, we came inside and started working on our new opinion write - In your opinion, what activity do you like best? Library or Music? We reviewed that an opinion is "what I think" and then wrote our sentence. We are working very hard at not only giving our opinions, but also a reason.
When we were done writing, we did our morning message (focusing on letter Aa, the sound /a/, and our sight word "like"), calendar (focusing on place value and counting), and then Daily News.
We ended our morning with a math lesson - looking for hidden partners to 10.
Our afternoon was filled with lunch, lunch recess, quiet time, music, 5th grade buddies, afternoon recess, snack, show and share, and free choice.
Thank you for taking the time to talk about school behaviors with your child. I can't tell you how helpful your support is!

4. Our Halloween Party will be Oct. 31 from 1:20-2:20pm. Then, at 2:30pm, we will meet the whole school in the cafeteria for a Halloween sing-a-long. There will not be a parade this year. Parents are welcome to join the sing-a-long. We have a lead party mom and a few helpers for our class party. If you'd like to join us, please let me know!
5. Just a loving reminder, costumes must be school appropriate (meaning, no weapons, no blood, no guts). First through fifth grades do NOT wear their costumes to school (they change at lunch); however, kindergarten student DO wear their costumes to school. Please let me know if you have any questions!
6. Please make sure your child's transportation tag matches how they'll be going home at the end of the day! Let me know if you need a new tag.
