Thursday Update

We had a fantastic day!

We started our day with a shared read (Higgelty, Piggelty, Pop!) and we focused on the characters and making inferences. We then went right into reading groups. During groups we focused on letter ID, letter sounds, decoding, reading, annotating text, handwriting, and listening. After groups, we went outside for recess. When recess was over, we did morning message, calendar, and Daily News.

We then shifted our focus to Martin Luther King Jr. and his incredible vision and hope for our nation/world. We then did a guided draw of Martin Luther King Jr. to display in the hall. Tomorrow we will take all our new learning/ideas that we've learned from Martin Luther King Jr. and write about our dreams for the world.

Our afternoon was filled with lunch, recess, music, library, snack, show & share, quiet time, and free choice.

We do have a couple of fun things coming up! More information will be sent home soon!
  • The letter Bb is coming up and we'll be celebrating with pj's and bears! We call it bear buddy day! Students can bring a small bear (or other letter Bb animal) to school!
  • The 100th Day of School is quickly approaching! We will celebrate on Feb. 11 (Monday). No pressure, but if your child would like to, they are allowed to dress up like their 100 year old self. I will also dress up. :)
  • We will celebrate Valentine's Day on Feb. 12 (Tuesday). We don't have a formal party, but we do pass out Valentines to our friends and we DO write all our friends names on the cards. So, if you'd like to come help us pass out cards and read them, you're more than welcome!
