We had a great day!
We started a new unit in reading (Plants and Animals), so our shared reading was an informational text called "What Do Chimps Need?" After reading the text, students came up with a list of the facts they learned. We then went right into reading groups, where students worked on letters ID, letter sounds, phoneme segmentation, picture sorting, ABC books (Ii page), handwriting, and listening. When groups were over, we went outside for recess with our friends. After recess, we worked hard to identify and describe all the 2D shapes. We also did our morning message, calendar, and Daily News routine. During this time, our focus was on the letter Ii, the /i/ sound, the sight words (can and she), and math. After finishing, Ms. Cox came in to tell us all about our Christmas service project. Every year, Prairie View works together to collect and donate needed items for the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery. Please read the attached letter for more information.
Our afternoon was filled with lunch, recess, centers, library, snack, show and share, quiet time, and free choice.
Important Information:
1. Take Home Books were collected, exchanged, and returned today.
2. Communication Folders were sent home today. Our field trip permission slips are in folders. Please keep the pink letter for your reference and sign and return ONLY THE BLUE FORM.

4. Just a reminder that you can start sending in money for the upcoming field trip. If you plan to volunteer it is $4 cash for adult volunteers and $10 cash for your child’s lunch. Please also send a stamp so we can mail a letter to our families during the field trip!
