We had a great day!
We started our time with a Happy Camper interview (Leighton) and name book. We then had the APEX team in to teach us all about being "next level." Meaning, looking for ways to help and support others. During calendar we talked about why we do the calendar ("to learn the months, days of the week, the date, and the year). We also started graphing the weather and continued to count the number of days we've been in school. After calendar, we did our first Daily News entry. Daily News is a paper we publish as a class and it gets sent home every Monday in communication folders (our first publication will come home on Monday 9/24). We were then able to go outside for a sunny recess with our kindergarten friends. After recess, we did our first (practice) reading group time. The kiddos did a beautiful job rotating, working, and following directions. After reading groups, we learned all about sorting (math). We sorted items that would go in a backpack for school and items that would be in a toy box.
Our afternoon was filled with lunch, recess, APEX extra recess, library, snack, show & share, and free choice time.
If you haven't yet, please turn in the important school paperwork as soon as possible.
Important Information:
1. Communication Folders came home today. Please note, picture order forms are in them, as well as information about McTeacher Night!
2. McTeacher Night is tomorrow from 4-7pm. Kindergarten teachers will be there from 4-5pm!
3. . We will be doing our APEX Fun Run on September 20th! Below are the times for the event:
Kindergarten + First: 9:45am - 10:45am
Second + Third: 10:50am - 11:50am
Fourth + Fifth: 1:30pm - 2:30pm
Please help your child get pledges for the run! It's our only fundraiser this year!
4. Please tell your child if they are having hot lunch or cold lunch each day. This will help when we do our lunch count. Also, please tell your child if they need to sit at the peanut table (meaning, you packed PB&J or they have items that contain or were processed with nuts). Kinders get very confused and it's difficult to look through every kiddos lunch before they sit down.
5. You can now order spirit wear on line! Every Friday we have spirit day and our kinders LOVE to participate! Please check out the link below and order as soon as possible!
The on line orders close on September 22.
