Tuesday News

We had a great day!

We started with morning work, continuing to focus on the ten frame, hidden partners, counting, and the word more. We then transitioned to morning message (focusing on our new letter Ee, and our new sight words do and this). We then did calendar and daily news.

We went outside for recess. Although it's still chilly, the sunshine felt great!

During reading groups we practiced tapping out sounds, blending, sight words, handwriting, and listening.

When groups were over, we went right into math (again focusing on the word more, as well as less). Finally, we reviewed all our 2D shapes.

During informational writing time, we started studying baby elephants (calves). We watched a number a short clips, looked at pictures, and read a book about them. We then took all our new facts and put them into our graphic organizer. We have done many of these together, but today the students filled the organizer in independently. I can't wait to show you at conference time!

Our afternoon was filled with lunch, recess, library, snack, show and share, quiet time, fourth grade buddies, and free choice centers.

Important Information:
1. Conferences are Feb. 14, 15, 16. Feb. 14th is a half day and Feb. 15-16 are non student days (meaning, no school).

2. If you haven't yet done so, please log in to pickatime.com and schedule your child's conference.

3. Please help your child make a Valentine's box. Remember, this can be super simple (a large piece of paper folded in half and stapled on the side OR something fancy). Just do what works for your family!

4. We will pass out and read Valentines on Feb. 14 (10:15-10:50am). If you'd like to join us, we can always use help passing out Valentine cards and reading cards. You are welcome to send in/bring a treat to share (just let me know so I can set up a place for it). Just a loving reminder that we are NUT FREE, meaning absolutely NO nuts in our classroom. Thank you for being considerate of this!

5. Feb. 20th is the 100th Day of School!!! If your child would like to, they can dress up as their 100 year old self. No pressure, though! :)
