Tuesday News

We had a great day!

We started with our morning work (focusing on ending sounds, blending, handwriting, and reading). We then went right into our morning message (focusing on the letter Dd, the /d/ sound, and our new sight words - as and play). We then did calendar and really focused on the number of days we've been in school (place value).

We had indoor recess, due to rain. However, the kiddos loved playing all the indoor choices (hot potato, puzzles, playdoh, to name a few).

After recess, we had reading groups. During groups, the students did ABC books (Dd page), iPads (this was our first time using them in class and the students did a wonderful job), numbers, and listening. I continued to assess students, as well.

When groups were over, we went right into writing time. We are continuing to learn about informational writing. I read the students a book about foxes and then showed them a video clip of a fox hunting in snow. We then shared with our table groups/the class all the different facts we learned. Tomorrow we will start putting those facts into our graphic organizer.

Here is the clip of the fox hunting. It's pretty amazing to watch!

Our afternoon was filled with lunch, recess, library, snack, quiet time, show and share, fourth grade buddies, and free choice centers.
