Tuesday News

We had a wonderful day!

Our day started with a review of our Eight Never Never Rules:
1) Never touch guns
2) Never play with fire
3) Never ride on wheels without a helmet
4) Never go in water without an adult watching
5) Never use a sharp tool without an adult
6) Never ride in a car without wearing a seatbelt
7) Never touch a dog (or animal) without asking the person in charge
8) Never cross the street without checking all ways for traffic

If someone asks us to do one of these things:
1) We use our self talk and ask ourselves "Is it safe?"
2) If it isn't safe or we don't know, we refuse by saying in a strong voice "No, that's not safe."
3) Then, we go tell the adult in charge.
I've attached a link to the Three Ways to Stay Safe song (we will watch it tomorrow).

We then had indoor recess before transitioning to reading groups. During reading groups, we reviewed letter Ee and the /e/ sound. Additionally, we practiced decoding, sight words (reading and writing), we did our ABC books, handwriting, and listening (Giraffes Can't Dance).

We are still working on informational writing. The students started a new piece today - "All About Me." Independently, the students organized their facts and wrote them on their graphic organizer. We will transfer our writing and add an illustration over the next few days.

After doing our calendar and daily news routine, we did a bit more research on Dr. Seuss. We also looked at the Seussville Webpage and found some fun facts/photos.

Our time together ended with a review of number bonds and finding the part, part, and whole. Once math was over, we read a few more pages of Cat in the Hat.
